TREGARON Turfs moved to the top of the MMP Central Wales South table after edging past Bow Street Reserves 1-0 on Friday evening.
Having opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Felinfach, the Turfs made it two wins from two thanks to an early strike from Ifan Jones. The forward found the net after just five minutes and his goal ultimately proved enough to secure local bragging rights against the Magpies.
Tregaron also handed a debut to new signing Josh Morris, with the 16-year-old impressing throughout. Morris showcased his pace, direct running, strength and technical ability in an encouraging first appearance for the club.
The following day, Llanilar kicked off their league campaign in style with a convincing 4-1 victory over Penparcau at Castle Hill Park.
After beginning their season with a thrilling 4-3 FAW Amateur Trophy win against Castell Alun Colts a fortnight earlier, Llanilar had been forced to wait for their first league fixture.
Matty Davies gave Penparcau an early lead after 10 minutes, but the hosts responded superbly. Goals from 18-year-old Steffan Gillies and Osian Simpson-Jones helped Llanilar turn the game around and establish a 3-1 advantage by half-time.
Penparcau, adjusting to life in Tier 4 football, struggled to gain a foothold after the break, with Llanilar remaining firmly in control. Simpson-Jones completed his brace in the 69th minute, finishing off a move created by Euros Lloyd to seal an impressive opening-day success.

Lampeter Town also bounced back from their 4-0 defeat at Ffostrasol with a determined display against Penrhyncoch Reserves. Llyr Jones scored the decisive goal 10 minutes into the second half as Lampeter secured their first league points of the season with a deserved 1-0 victory.
Midweek fixtures: Wednesday, 19 August - Felinfach v Bow Street Reserves; Llanilar v Ffostrasol; Penparcau v Penrhyncoch Reserves; Lampeter v Tregaron Turfs.
