TYWYN/BRYNCRUG were crushed in the second half by rampant Carno in the Spar Mid Wales League division one as doubles by Peter Rees and Andrew Evans capped an emphatic 6-0 win for the visitors.
Carno’s Peter Rees fired over from close range and some last-ditch defending stopped Ioan Humphreys and Ger Jones opening the scoring, before the Greens deservedly made the breakthrough.
An Andrew Evans shot found its way into the net from 12 yards out to put the Greens ahead at the interval.
The floodgates opened in the second half, when Toby Evans released Rees to fire past the onrushing keeper.
Toby Evans then got himself on the score sheet with a typical poacher’s goal, when tapping home an Andrew Evans cross from the right wing.
Defender Drew Reynolds released Ashley Owen to finish neatly for 4-0, and Richie Evans was twice denied by the keeper as he looked to continue his goal scoring form for the Greens.
Drew Reynolds headed wide from a set piece as Carno continued to push on, and then Andrew Evans drove home from the edge of the box for 5-0.
The scoring was completed when Ashley Owen set up Peter Rees to volley home to complete a miserable day for the winless Meirionnydd team.
Elsewhere Aberaeron settled for a share of the spoils in a 3-3 draw with Llandrindod Wells, after Jason Jones’ side were ahead by two clear goals.
A half volley from Mattie Davies and a near-post strike by David Evans put Aberaeron in charge, before the Spa side had pulled a goal back.
The hard-working Gareth Evans made it 3-1, but Aberaeron let it slip as visitors hit back to secure a draw.
Llanidloes Town showed plenty of spirit to hit back to claim a 2-2 draw at Radnor Valley, courtesy of two second half goals from Rhys Evans.
Llanrhaeadr meanwhile triumphed 3-0 at Machynlleth, courtesy a brace from Iain Edmunds and a Glenn Evans goal..
Berriew meanwhile registered a 5-0 win against Welshpool, with goals from Matthew Mumford, Karl Seliartes, Ross Harms, Rich Davies and Rhys Stephens.
On Friday goals from Mark Davies, Matty Lewis and a Gareth Hughes penalty earned Rhayader a 3-1 win over Hay St Mary’s, who replied through Brendan Hackett, whilst Knighton beat Montgomery 2-0.
Division Two
Dolgellau produced a dominant display as they recorded their second win of the season in the Spar Mid Wales League division two with a 4-1 verdict at home to Dyffryn Banw.
Dominic Thomas opened the scoring early on when he beat his marker before slotting the ball into the far corner of the net, and Banw were fortunate only to be a goal down at the interval.
Just minutes after the re-start, Ieuan Brooks beat three defenders and blasted into the roof of the net from a tight angle for 2-0, but within a minute, Banw’s Bryn Jones crashed home from inside the box to reduce the arrears.
Hopes of a comeback finally ended as Mike Parkes headed in from a free-kick, and Tom Carr squared for Aron Parry to make it 4-1 on 80 minutes.
Borth United registered a 2-1 win over visitors Kerry, courtesy of goals in the last 20 minutes of the match from Gwion Pugh Jones and Jamie Morris.
Early chances had seen Borth’s Ben Byrne to head over the bar, following a great cross from Liam Lewis, who also tested the keeper with a stinging shot.
After a goalless first half, Sean Gates made a great save to deny the visitors, but with Marcin Matyja and Gareth Kelsall-Hughes causing Kerry defence all sorts of problems, the breakthrough came after 76 minutes.
Gareth Kelsall- Hughes was brought down on the edge of the penalty box and from the resulting free kick Gwion Pugh-Jones back heeled into the net.
Borth continued to press and on 88 minutes Liam Lewis broke the offside trap and pulled the ball back for Jamie Morris to tap home a crucial second goal.
With minutes of injury time remaining, Kerry had a corner punched clear by Gates, but it fell straight to Kerry’s Kyrren Chaney to fire home to make it 2-1.
Elsewhere two goals from Joe Haycock, including a penalty, and an Omer Bozdag goal earned Churchstoke a 3-3 draw with Penybont, who scored through Jake Bufton, Shane Pritchard and Matt Boore.
A goal from defender Ryan Evans earned Abermule a 1-1 draw with Newbridge, who replied with a looping header from Adam Chessell, whilst Presteigne drew 0-0 with Llansantffraid Village, and Builth Wells beat Four Crosses 2-1.
