WALES have all but secured passage from Group A of the delayed Euro 2020 after a commanding display against Turkey last night.

Rob Page’s men were at it from the first whistle and, apart from a few short spells in the game, were the dominant side throughout and more than deserving of the 2-0 result.

With Italy beating Switzerland 3-0, after also beating Turkey by the same scoreline in their opening game, Wales could still top the group if they beat Italy at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Sunday.

A very tough ask, but not impossible if big stars like Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey produce performances like they did last night.

Ramsey missed a couple of chances early on but put that to the back of his mind when he put Wales ahead with a sublime controlled chest down and delicate finish past the keeper.

The timing of his runs from midfield had the Turkey back line at sixes and sevens, with the Juventus man running into space time and time again.

And Bale was vastly improved from the 1-1 draw against Switzerland with an instrumental showing despite missing a penalty midway through the second half.

He made amends to create the very late, decisive second goal, beating his man from a short corner and driving into the area to feed Connor Roberts to make it 2-0.

But there were big performance all over the pitch by Page’s charges, who are once again showing the meaning of teamwork and that a smaller nation can more than punch above its weight given the right conditions.

Cymru are on the march again and heading to Rome.
