A DOLGELLAU girl’s group has helped tidy up their local town by collecting 20 bags of rubbish from the town’s playing fields.

A total of 17 Brownies and seven helpers recently took part in a litter-pick on the Marian and adjacent areas of Dolgellau.

The event followed another recent litter-pick which was enjoyed so much by the children that the organisers decided to run another session.

In total, 20 bags of rubbish were collected and later removed by Gwynedd Council’s Street Cleaning Team.

The children were rewarded for their efforts with a drink and biscuits at the pavilion, together with much praise from all concerned.

Local Gwynedd councillor Linda Morgan, who is also Ambassador for Girl Guiding in Meirionnydd, said: “It was great to get everyone together to improve our local environment. The community pride was very evident from all the children and volunteers and leaders taking part in clearing up this beautiful part of the town."
