Adrian Roberts highlights an issue that receives little attention, the sale of public land in his community of Trawsfynydd, without consulting the residents.
He asks for readers to reveal examples in other communities (Views, 15 July). However, the sale of school playing fields (excluding Eton) since 2010 is a matter of record, 236 have been sold, and in 2020 the number hit a three-year high. That this should happen at any time is educational lunacy, but to happen in an obesity crisis is quite simply criminal. As Adrian Roberts said, ‘once the land is sold it will be lost forever’.
We have a Westminster government containing four Cabinet ministers who were coauthors of a right wing polemic entitled Britannia Unchained, which needs no title explanation.
Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, was one co-author, and her ideology is only too apparent in her current Police and Crime Bill that Vic Bamford, an environmentalist, decries, because he could be imprisoned for protesting (Views, 15 July).
He protests to save the world, but Priti Patel would curtail his effectiveness.
