ROYAL Navy explosives experts from Plymouth were called to safely detonate a live bomb at Ynyslas beach last weekend.

Borth Coastguard Rescue team responded to reports of suspected ordnance at Ynyslas beach and nature reserve at 3.15pm on Friday, 15 April, and subsequently secured the area and requested the assistance of the Royal Navy’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team (EOD), based at Plymouth.

Following inspection by the EOD, the ordnance was deemed to be live and was disposed of in a controlled explosion at around 12.47pm on Saturday, 16 April.
