Volunteers at Porthdinllaen RNLI Lifeboat Station are holding their first 5K Family Fun Run on Saturday, 10 August.

The start point for the fun run will start at 10.30am. Those wishing to participate are requested to register online for the event.

The leisurely run will start at Nefyn Golf Club, down then to Morfa Nefyn, taking in the views along the beach to picturesque Porthdinllaen village and back alongside the pristine golf links of Nefyn Golf Club to the start point at the Club House.

The distance of the run will be 5k, it is not planned to be too strenuous but if an individual runner wishes to, there will be a shorter 2.5k route available.

Walkers are equally welcome to come for a pleasant stroll. All ages are encouraged to participate, even down to little ones in push chairs or dog owners being taken for a walk by their pet. Fancy dress is optional, but welcomed.

The aim of the run is to give the participants a fun day out as well as to raise funds for the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.

Owain Williams, Coxswain at Porthdinllaen RNLI Station, said: ‘Porthdinllaen RNLI Station are proud to be able to offer a 5k event in such a stunning location and hopefully it will become an annual event that will help us raise funds towards our goal of ensuring safety and saving lives at sea. We would also like to thank the National Trust and Nefyn and District Golf Club for their support and cooperation, without them we would not be able to go ahead with the event.”

The cost for adults is £10 and for children £5.
