A man has been rescued from Cader Idris after getting stuck on the mountain.

Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team received a call to help the man shortly after 12.30pm yesterday afternoon (Monday).

A team spokesperson said: “Call-handlers from the Team were made aware of a man stuck on steep-ground on Cader Idris.

“The man had been scrambling solo in the area of Cyfrwy Arête but had lost confidence and, being unable to proceed either up or down, called for assistance.

“With the prospect of only a few hours of daylight to access the site with equipment and effect a technical rope rescue, the assistance of coastguard helicopter was requested to provide uplift to the top of the crag.

“As the helicopter arrived on scene, the crew took the view that they could access the man directly. The winchman was lowered and was able to pick-off the stranded climber.

“Everyone was back at their vehicles shortly before 3pm.”
