An injured mountain biker had to be airlifted to hospital from slopes near Blaenau Ffestiniog.

South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team and Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team worked together to rescue the man from the Antur Stiniog bike trails on Saturday, 24 February.

After the teams found the casualty, he was assessed, given pain relief and prepared for evacuation.

Due to the terrain, a Coastguard helicopter was asked to transport the casualty to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

The rescue was complete by 8pm.

A spokesperson for South Snowdonia Search and rescue Team said: “Big thanks to Aberglaslyn MRT for their assistance, and we wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “‘We were called at approximately 4.10pm (Saturday, 24 February) to reports that a male had fallen off his bike on a mountain trail in Blaenau Ffestiniog. We sent two emergency ambulances and two CFR’s to the scene.”
