SPECIALIST negotiators had to talk a man down from the roof of the old magistrates building on Aberystwyth promenade earlier today.

The road around the old Swydda’r Sir was cordoned off after police received reports of a man on the roof of the building at 3.05pm today.

In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police said they received reports of a man on the roof of the building who ‘appeared intoxicated.’

The police added: “Officers attended the scene immediately, along with Fire and Rescue service personnel, and a cordon was placed on the road and pavement.

“Specialist negotiators were also at the scene, and engaged with the man to try and expedite a safe outcome due to the risk posed to him.

“Thankfully at about 4.25pm the man was brought down, and was then safe and well with the emergency services.

“He will now receive the support he requires in the aftermath of this incident.

“Thanks to members of the public for their patience and co-operation in the area whilst we dealt with this situation.”
