AN YSGOL Bro Idris pupil was airlifted from Dolgellau’s leisure centre on Friday after falling ill during a sports lesson.

At 2.40pm on Friday afternoon (15 September) a Wales Air Ambulance rushed to Glan Wnion Leisure Centre, Dolgellau, where a girl required urgent medical treatment.

She was subsequently flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd for treatment but returned home later that same day.

A spokesperson for Ysgol Bro Idris said: “One of our pupils was taken unwell after a sports lesson late last Friday.

“Staff from the leisure centre and the school attended to the pupil, and an ambulance was called.

“We are pleased that the pupil was able to return home on Friday night.”

A Gwynedd Council spokesperson also confirmed the medical episode had taken place and were pleased to report the girl had not been kept in hospital overnight.

In a statement, the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at shortly after 2.40pm this afternoon to reports of a medical incident at Glan Wnion Leisure Centre, Dolgellau.

“We sent the Wales Air Ambulance and a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and a girl was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd.”
