THE FORUM held a well-attended AGM on 30 March at St Paul’s Methodist Centre in Queen’s Road. The speaker was William Jones from the Citizen’s Advice Bureau. He gave an interesting talk about the work of the CAB in Ceredigion, explaining that the bureau provides free, independent, confidential support and advice on a range of diverse issues including problems with benefits, pensions and all aspects of debt. He then concentrated on talking about the work done by the CAB on energy efficiency. The bureau can provide a range of advice, for example, on how to get lower electricity and gas prices by using price comparison websites and transferring between energy companies or, for oil users, information on oil syndicates in the county which offer the opportunity to buy more cheaply and to buy smaller quantities of oil at the same price as that paid by larger users. The meeting re-elected Cllr Mair Benjamin as chair, and elected two new officers: Lorely Lansley (treas-urer) and Hazel Binding (minutes secretary). The next meeting will be on Wednesday, 25 May at 2pm in St Paul’s Methodist Centre, when there will be speakers from both the Stroke Association and the Police. The next forum visit will be tea at Nanteos on Wednesday, 27 April. If you would like to join the forum, contact Mair Benjamin on 01970 615854.
