A new album which fuses rock, rap, intonation and folk tunes to the accompaniment of Welsh language poetry and songs has been released by Huw Dylan.
The lyrics, which have been described as ‘raw at times’, as listeners will experience an enjoyable genocide in Diawlineb yn adloniant (Devilry as entertainment), and a man murdered by his daughter, all within the first four tracks!
This new collection is called O Feirion i Dreforys (From Meirionnydd to Morriston).
Between the chanting poetry and passionate songs there are traditional folk and rock band electric guitars.
The tracks take us from his home-town of Dolgellau to his current abode in Morriston, Swansea and meander along the way to Brittany, Sempringham, and the lands of the native Americans.
Along with the original compositions, there are fresh versions of classic Welsh poets’ verses.
O Feirion i Dreforys is available from 1 May to stream or on CD at Bandcamp and for sale at your local Welsh language shop.
