A BISHOP’S pilgrimage to all parishes in the St David’s Diocese brought him to the Llandre group of churches on a wet and windy November Saturday.

The Right Reverend John Wyn Evans completed his 189th visit of the 328 churches in his diocese — which he aims to finish by September next year — after spending Saturday, 14 November, at the parish churches of Llandre, Llangorwen and Talybont.

The day started early for Bishop Wyn at St Michael’s church, Llandre, with 12 men enjoying bacon butties and bible study.

Local artist Wynne Melville Jones then took him round some of the Poetry Path trail that starts at the lych-gate and winds its way into the woods above the church.

Bishop Wyn, whose father was the vicar of Penrhyncoch when he was growing up, enjoyed reconnecting with some familiar poets and their poems.
