Parking

GWYNEDD Council has announced that there will be free car parking on 5 December and then for two weeks from Saturday, 12 December.

Christmas Lights

TONIGHT (Thursday) sees the annual turning on of the town’s Christmas Lights.There will be competitions beforehand, with entries to be in by 2pm at the Church Hall for the judging.Competitions include recycled Christmas decorations, cards, any crafts as well as the best decorated window, house or business and much more. The whole event has been organised by the Blaenau Bendigedig group.

Maenofferen Gallery

THE MAENOFFEREN Gallery hosts an exhibition by contemporary photographer Jeremy Dean.Also, in its glass cases, there are examples of Jane Williams’s pottery works.

Owen Owen Gallery

AT MACHYNLLETH Owen Owen Gallery last Saturday, the work of the London-based artist Peter McNally, originally from Blaenau Ffestiniog, was officially opened. It will be on show until 16 January.

Advice

ON MONDAYS between 10am and 1pm, a representative of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be at the library. On Friday afternoons, 2 and 4pm, a Macmillan support co-ordinator will be present.Both representatives will be ready to answer any questions.

Rhiannedd y Moelwyn Ladies Choir

THE RHIANNEDD y Moelwyn Ladies Choir, conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Awen Davey, were in concert at the local RWF Club on Friday evening.They were introduced by Dafydd Lloyd Williams who said that the evening was to raise money for one of the choir members, Francesca Chart-Davies, who is shortly to go for treatment at a London Hospital.The evening ended with a disco by Paul Evans.

Clwb Merched

GWR GWADD cyfarfod diwethaf Clwb Merched nos Fawrth oedd Steffan ab Owain, arweiniodd yr aelodau gyda sleidiau ar hyd hen siopau Stiniog ar newid ddaeth o stryd i stryd, fel galwodd y daith hanesyddol ddiddorol hon. Gwesteion y te oedd Anne a Bet a bu bawb flasu mins peis unigryw Anne. Ennillwyd y raffl gan Lena, rhoddedig gan Bet. Bydd y clwb yn cael ei cinio Nadolig yng nghwesty Seren ar 8 Rhagfyr a dymunwyd Nadolig Llawen i’r holl aelodau a diolch iddynt am ei ffyddlondeb.

Sports

BLAENAU Amateurs FC were 4-1 at-home winners over Llannerchymedd in a Take Stock Van hire Challenge Cup first-round tie thanks to David Copsey 2, Bryn Humphreys and Gareth Roberts and they will be away to either Llanllyfni or Mochdre Sports in round two. The Reserves gained a Reserve League point with a 1-1 away draw at Porthmadog with Tom Williams their scorer. This Saturday, the first team are at Pentraeth and the Reserves host Llandudno Junction Res.Bro Ffestiniog XV’s match at Machynlleth on Saturday was postponed. They are home to Shotton Steel this Saturday.

Quarries

THE Blaenau Amateurs FC have announced that after a lapse of several years, they are to again stage the popular end-of-season inter quarries competitions for both seniors and juniors at the end of this season. In the meantime, the club is appealing for more new faces to join their ever-dwindling committee membership as the running of two teams this season has put a strain on the side’s management, the committee and the club’s own financial situation.

CYFARFU’R sefydliad nos Fawrth, 24 Tachwedd a dechreuwyd trwy ganu Meirion a Margaret Jones yn cyfeilio.Croesawodd y llywydd yr aelodau a llongyfarchod Lina Jones ar fod yn nani i efeilliaid bach, Arwen a Lili.Darllennodd Bet Jones yr ysgrifennydd gofnodion mis Hydref a’r llythyr misol ble cawson fanylion am digwyddiadu sydd wedi eu trefnu fel digwyddiad y Nadolig yn y Bala a trefnwyd ein bod yn cymryd rhan yn y gystadleuaeth i drefnu blodau ar 28 Tachwedd, a bydd gwasanaeth carolau yn Capel Ebeneser, Dolgellau pnawn ddydd Gwener, 4 Rhagfyr.Yna cymerodd yr aelodau ran mewn gwneud calendrau a roeddynt yn hardd iawn i gyd efo gwahanol ddarluniau a rhai ohonynt o wledydd dramor.Trefnwyd lluniaeth gan Wenna F Jones, Valmai Hughes a Valerie Davies.Enillwyd y clwb 200 gan Laura May Davies a Muriel Jones a’r raffle gan Valerie Davies.Ar ddydd Mawrth, 1 Rhagfyr byddwn yn mwynhau cinio Nadolig gyda’n gilydd yn Pisgah.
