Chamber of Commerce
THE CHAMBER of Commerce and Tourism members held their annual Christmas get-together at Ellens Castle Hotel, Dolwyddelen last Monday where they enjoyed a fine buffet prepared by hosts Helen and Adam Hardy, who are also members of the chamber.Image mirrorsIMAGE mirrors will be installed at Park Square and Tanymanod and the Buy Local project was to be launched this month.It is also stated that there is considerable work ahead for Gwynedd Council due to the Gwynedd Challenge.
Sports
AFTER the washout the previous Saturday, Blaenau Amateurs FC clubs were again kicking their heels last week as their match at Gaerwen, and the Reserves were home to Denbigh Res were postponed. This Saturday, the first team are home to Penmaenmawr and the Reserves are at Denbigh Town but are at Porthmadog this Thursday evening in a Craig Bradley Pools Challenge Cup first round tie. Bro Ffestiniog XV’s long trip to Canton, Cardiff ended in a SWALEC Challenge Cup 27-0 defeat.
Post Office
THE TOWN Council has been informed that the person who was interested in running the local Post Office has now withdrawn the offer.
Plaque
FOLLOWING the unveiling of the plaque at Sgwar Rawson, the council has received a letter from Elvey MacDonald thanking them for the honour of unveiling it,The plaque is now nearly ready to be placed permanently there after having the town council logo put on it and the commissioning of a surrounding frame to hold it in place.
Clwb Cerdded

Advice
A MACMILLAN support coordinator will be at the library on Fridays between 2 and 4pm, and on Mondays between 10am and 1pm, a Citizens Advice Bureau representative will be there.Both will be willing and ready to give any relevant advice where needed.Maenofferen GalleryTHE MAENOFFEREN Gallery hosts an ex-hibition by contemporary photographer Jeremy Dean while at its Glass Case, there are examples of the work by the potter Jane Williams. Admission is free during the library’s opening hours.
Magazine
THE TOWN council has contributed £300 towards the costs of members of the online magazine Dirt Mag who will be staying in the area and writing an article on the top 100 products in Ffestiniog. The magazine receives over 5 million hits on its website every month plus more on their Fa-cebook page, Twitter etc and is one of the main websites for cycling worldwide. While here, Steven Jones of the magazine would like to take photographs in the town, Maenofferen and Antur Stiniog and the council feel this is a good opportunity to promote the area to a huge audience.

Cafwyd noson hynod gerddorol yng nghw-mni Wenna Francis Jones a’i pharti o bedair merch ifanc dawnus. Cefonogwyd y parti gan Gwyn Vaughan Jones a unodd â Wenna i chwarae tair deuawd ar y piano. Mwynhawyd y perfformiadau’n arw. Cafwyd amrywiaeth eang o ganeuon, yn un-awdau a deuawdau gan Lowri ac Awel Francis Jones a Mari Glyn a chafwyd unawd piano gan Awen Roberts. Perfformwyd darnau allan o sioeau cerdd, caneuon gwerin, carolau a rhai ffefrynnau cyfarwydd mewn dull proffesiynol o safon uchel. Cyflwynwyd y rhaglen mor ddiffwdan a diro-dres gan y ddau oedolyn a’r pedair merch ifanc. Roedd yn noson wych a thalwyd y diolchiadau gan Meris Thomas.Bydd y Gymdeithas yn cynnal noson Llith a Charol yng Nghapel Bowydd nos Sul nesaf am 6yh. Fountain
AFTER being out of action for some time, it has been announced that the problems with the broken Diffwys Fountain pumps will soon be resolved.
Concert
ON SUNDAY evening, the Blaenau Mixed Choir, conducted by Wenna Francis Jones and accompanists Gwynn Vaughan Jones and Alwena Morgan, were in concert at the local St David’s Church.They were joined by Geraint Roberts, tenor, Ceris Jones on the cornet, and the Tanygrisiau school choir, also conducted by Wenna Jones with Sylvia Ann Jones their accompanist. The compere was Delyth Gray and the evening ended with the Rev David Brownridge expressing thanks to all who took part and gave a blessing.Afterwards, there were refreshments provided by the church ladies. The evening raised £338.40 which has been donated to St David’s Church.
