I am visually impaired. I am chair of VIA, a campaign for visually impaired access rights in Aberystwyth.

On the evening of Friday, 21 August, I fell over, after crashing into a square stone block outside the station and Wetherspoons.

This really shook me up. Someone else walking near me at the time was very concerned about my wellbeing.

I ended up with a sprained hand, bruising to my right buttock and water damage to the wallet in my back pocket.

I have had at least four collisions with these blocks.

On a previous occasion, one of my shins suffered cuts and severe bruising.

I am lucky not to have suffered a fracture or similar.

I have written to Ceredigion council explaining that these square objects are a major hazard to anyone but are a particular hazard to blind/visually impaired people. I have said that I want them removed ASAP.
