WOMEN in Meirionnydd have been asked to support African women in every sense.
Dolgellau Hospital Out Patient Department and Dolgellau Post Office are collaborating in a community initiative to collect surplus bras to be sent to women in developing countries such as Togo, Ghana and Kenya, where bras remain too expensive to produce locally.
The project also raises vital funds for the ‘Against Breast Cancer’ charity for research into secondary breast cancer.
For every tonne of bras collected, the company receives £700 to fund their vital research.
The hospital and post office are collecting unwanted bras until October with the aim of promoting Breast Cancer Awareness month.
If you would like to donate bras that you no longer need, they can be left with Suzanne Williams at the Post Office or can be left in Out Patient Reception where there is a ‘Bra Bank’.
All donations gratefully received.
If you would like more information about breast cancer, please call into the hospital Out Patient Department to speak with Anne Thomas or visit www.breastcancercare.org.uk
