ADMINISTRATORS for Aberystwyth’s Royal Pier have said they are “hopeful” of agreeing a deal to sell the attraction soon.
John Kelly, who is a partner with administrators Begbies Traynor, said that “extensive discussions with a variety of interested parties” have been held, but urged Aberystwyth residents to continue to support the Pier while negotiations continues.
Don Leisure Ltd, the company that owns the attraction, were forced to call in administrators in March this year with creditors owed almost £2.5m after a period of poor trading.
While the pier has continued to trade in the meantime, Mr Kelly said there had been talks with a range of potential purchasers and that he hoped to be able to make a further announcement by the end of November.
Mr Kelly said that while trading had been good since the Pier went into administration, that needed to continue.
He said: “We are hopeful of concluding a sale soon. We have had extensive discussions with a variety of interested parties which have been quite complex at times given the unusual nature of the Pier.
