GIVING a community group the chance to take over Llandysul’s swimming pool shows there is a “future” for the facility, Ceredigion County Council’s leader has said.
The council has agreed to give the trustees of Llandysul Aqua Centre the chance to draw up a business case for taking over the facility with a deadline of 31 August, following an expression of interest from the trustees.
That decision has been welcomed by Cllr Rhodri Evans, the Cabinet member for lifestyle services, who said that while the new Ysgol Bro Teifi would mean that leisure centre facilities would now be provided at the new school site, it was hoped that the swimming pool would be able to continue in the current location under local management.
He said: “We can see there is a future for the pool down in the town.
“There will be a new leisure centre at the school so there will be two facilities - one run by the council and one run by the community. I’m glad this has moved on for Llandysul.”
