A CREATIVE primary school pupil has won a tourist hotspot’s Christmas card competition.
Llechwedd Slate Caverns invited all three primary schools in the Ffestiniog area to design their Christmas card for this year which they will send out to all their partners and customers.
Year 6 pupils from each school were encouraged to take part in the challenge with Gwenllian Dafydd, from Ysgol Maenofferen, winning the inaugural design competition.
Her “excellent” design included three miners all enjoying their work in the slate caverns which made Blaenau Ffestiniog internationally famous.
As well as winning a £15 gift voucher from the Llechwedd Slate Caverns gift shop and having her design professionally printed and sent out to hundreds of people, Gwenllian’s win also means her whole class get to enjoy a tour of the newly open ‘Deep Mine Tour’ in Llechwedd in the new year.
