WALES’ best cinema, restaurant, and dining experience can all be found in Meirionnydd.

That is according to the Welsh Hospitality Awards which took place in Cardiff on 25 November at a ceremony put on to recognise the growth of the country’s hospitality industry.

The Welsh Hospitality Awards 2018 acknowledged the commitment of local professionals and establishments, from restaurants, bars, hotels to festivals and venues that have stand out from the rest due to their dedication to the customer satisfaction.

Local winners included Best Dining Experience, Tafarn y Gader Tapas (Dolgellau); Best Cinema Experience: Magic Lantern Cinema (Tywyn); and Restaurant of the Year Overall Winner: Torrent Walk (Dolgellau).

Falconry Experience Wales (Machynlleth) also won ‘Outdoor Venue of the Year’ and Taldraeth - Old Vicarage Guest House (Penrhyndeudraeth) was voted as the best Bed & Breakfast of the Year in north Wales.

Co-owner of the Magic Lantern, Mark Bond, said of the win: “In the last five years the Magic Lantern has had a new state-of-the-art 4K projector, a new sound system as well as two live stages, a new bar and much more. We have a wonderful team of staff and volunteers and aim to present diverse and surprising films and events.”
