ANGRY Blaenporth residents claim their lives have been blighted by a car wash which has been operating without planning permission in recent months.
People living in Lon Yr Ysgol are complaining about noise from the Auto Spa car wash on the site of the old Blaenporth Primary School.
The agents, Jac y Do Lettings, have applied for retrospective planning permission, but locals claim operators have “ridden roughshod” over Ceredigion County Council enforcement officers by blatantly defying a 28-day ‘stop notice’.
“We have been badly let down by the county council,” Fred Cripps, one of a number of residents who have complained to Aberporth Community Council, told the Cambrian News. “We just can’t understand why their officers didn’t enforce that notice.
“They say it would be more expedient to let the car wash continue to operate until the matter is decided by the planning committee.
“They have treated both ourselves and the council with complete contempt; their sheer arrogance is unbelievable.”
Richard Morris, of Jac y Do Lettings, said: “We’ve done everything that’s required of us and complied with all regulations.
“But our application will be going before the council in the near future so I wouldn’t like to make any further comment at this stage.”
