BORTH Animalarium is hoping to find new homes for 24 bearded dragons.

The lizards, which will need to live in a heated vivarium, used to belong to a disabled man who could no longer care for them.

Animalarium owner Jean Mumbray, who is looking for someone commited to take charge of them, said: “Bearded dragons are an

Australian species, a very docile and attractive animal and they are probably the best pet lizard species of all.

“They are quiet to handle, do not smell, do no make a sound and are easy to feed on chopped veg, mealworms and crickets.

“Bearded dragons greet each other by waving a front leg and will often greet their owner in the same way, but it is not a light commitment to take on a pet lizard and should be taken seriously, but they are a very rewarding pet and will teach an owner a respect for life and the rewards of caring for a dependent creature.

“Fortunately, whoever bred them took good care of them and they are all in good condition.”
