TWO young Powys surveyors have been shortlisted for national UK awards at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Apprentice of the Year Awards 2017.

Sarah Rees and Matt Williams of estate agents, auctioneers and property surveyors Morris, Marshall and Poole, have been shortlisted against finalists from throughout the country.

Sarah, who lives in Llanidloes and works at MMP’s Rhayader and Llanidloes offices and specialises in residential sales and lettings, has been shortlisted in the Property Agency (Residential and Commercial) category.

More than 150 entries were made for the award which has been shortlisted to just eight people.

Matt, who is based at MMP’s Newtown and Rhayader offices, specialises in agricultural and rural property and land sales. He is also an auctioneer at Welshpool Livestock Sales of which MMP is a partner.

He is shortlisted with 10 others from the UK out of over 150 entries.

The winners will be announced at a gala final in London on 17 November.

“Once again we’re very proud that members of the MMP team have been recognised and shortlisted in the UK RICS awards,” said Andrew Turner, a partner at MMP, one of Mid Wales and Shropshire’s longest established and leading estate agents.

“MMP Property surveyor Kathryn Evans won the UK Young Residential Surveyor of the Year in 2014 and Sarah and Matt follow in her footsteps to the national awards that recognise the professionalism of the young and up-and-coming property surveyors in the UK.”

Sarah said: “I feel quite privileged to have been shortlisted out of such a large entry for the awards.

“It’s great to be recognised for all the hard work and to put Mid Wales and MMP on the map when it comes to the high standard of residential and commercial sales and lettings we undertake.”

Matt said: “To be shortlisted for a national award is quite something, especially when you consider the number of entries from throughout the UK.”
