A MEIRIONNYDD holiday rental has been ranked as one of the very best in the world.

A one bed-cottage deep in the woods near Talybont is included in the same list as properties in found in the USA, Malta and South Africa.

Linda Drake operates Llwyn Ynn Cottage which was voted as one of the top ten mid-range rentals on Earth last week, according to TripAdvisor.

The cosy holiday home, which dates back to 1680, came seventh on the list, sandwiched between a flat in Florence and a cabin situated just a stone’s throw away from Niagara Falls.

Linda was delighted with her accolade.

“It was a complete surprise to get the travellers’ choice award and I’m still still stunned to be honest. Only 30 awards are given out, 10 in each category, out of some 100,000 self catering cottages,” she said.

“My cottage is unique and has the wow factor and is special because it has a four-poster bed, log fire, and hot tub – probably three of the most sort after requirements for couples in all age groups for a romantic break.

“I have had anything from honeymooners, engagements, and 50th wedding anniversaries here.

“The cottage is just 100 paces from the Ysgethin river. From there go left you can walk forever, go right another 100 paces to the Ysgethin pub and there’s numerous top restaurants nearby.

“In the five years I have been listed with TripAdvisor I have received 131 amazing reviews from my appreciative guests.

“Their comments range from the quaintness of the cottage, the lovely garden, its accessibility to so many outstanding scenic areas to be explored either by car or train.

“Guests come back year on year as I always leave them with the teaser of something they haven’t yet experienced, last year 62 per cent were returnees.”

The impressive accolade is unique in Wales.
