A CALL has been made for more traffic wardens in Aberystwyth to try to solve problems in the town centre.
Cllr Ceredig Davies said he was keen for something to be done to address issues such as cars parking in loading bays and delivery lorries ending up parked on pavements.
He said: “They haven’t had the manpower to be out and about as much as they have been in the past.
“That has a knock-on effect, as people are aware they aren’t about as much as they were and the loading bays are full of cars and delivery lorries are then parking on the pavement.
“We do need them back. I know some people may suffer from their work, but we need to make sure our pavements are safe for pedestrians.”
Cllr Alun Williams, the council’s highways Cabinet member, told an Aberystwyth Traffic Management Consultative Committee that efforts were already under way to recruit more civil enforcement officers to ensure that the number of wardens was at full strength.
