TIMEWATCH reader Helen Ellis shared two photographs from the early 1950s and we wondered if anyone would be able to put some names to the faces in them.

The photographs were of the ladies football team float and the ladies team in the match, played during Porthmadog carnival week, which was refereed by an ex-professional footballer, Bill Bassett.

According to Helen, the carnival and the football match were held at the secondary modern school field which later became Ysgol Eifion Wyn.

Tesco is now situated on the site.

Helen has provided some of the names of the people in the float and the team pictures, but can you fill in the blanks?

The names she has given are as follows:

On the float: Esther Humphreys, Bet Evans, Mrs Pierce, Hedwig Lewis, Girlie Lewis, Luned Morgan, Miss Kate Humphreys and Mrs Piercy.

Football team: Luned Morgan, Miss Sowdon, Jennie Williams, Lauretta Thomas, Gwladys May Owen, Sulwen John, Esther Humphreys, Dorothy Roberts, Bet Evans, Glenys Jones and Olga Paganuzzi.
