THE winners were Keith Bellamy and Gill Howells.

Jen Harris and Ted Morgan were second and Herbie Rowley and Nigel Symons Jones third.

Dylan Raw-Rees and Dai Hayes were king of the slams, bidding and making a grand slam and a small slam in clubs.

There were slams on four other boards – none of which fell to the evening’s winners – which shows that slams aren’t everything!

Gill Howells and Lee Collier were part of the winning team in the Mid-Wales AGM and Teams Event held on 20 May in Pant-y-Dwr.

In a marvellous community hall in beautiful country surroundings, everyone enjoyed a splendid buffet lunch.

The club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall every Thursday at 6.45pm – newcomers are eagerly welcomed.

A new round of afternoon tuition for beginners continues at 1pm on Wednesdays.

In the improvers section, they dealt with some of the interesting hands that came up in the Mid-Wales Teams.

Come along if you want to learn to play this exciting and mentally stimulating ‘mind sport’.
