LEADING up to Christmas, they held a Carol Concert with artists Rev Dr John Tudno Williams (Bass) and Marianne Jones Powell (Soprano) taking part at Bethel Chapel on Sunday, 3 December.

On Wednesday, 6 December, at 2.30pm a very successful workshop was held by Alex Hales of No. 21.

The design to be tackled was arranged on a posy pad and everyone could not wait to create this attractive table arrangement in time for Christmas.

On Wednesday, 13 December, it was their Christmas Extravaganza Demonstration by their chairman, John James at Neuadd Goffa, Penparcau.

A donation from the proceeds of this event will be handed over to the ‘Seren Appeal’, and to the delight of the audience Seren was present and was presented with an enormous soft toy by the chairman.

The demonstration, which was impeccably staged, reflected the hard work of preparation which had been undertaken by John hours before the audience arrived.

The first arrangement was a downward crescent design using a pink theme.

This was followed by a dramatic Italia design within a picture frame.

His colour scheme for this was black foliage and red carnations and silver baubles.

The use of driftwood resulted in a very colourful design in yellow and peach gerbera and dianthus which was completed with lights in the shape of birds on the branch.

Another large two-placement design followed, one on a cartwheel and another in a sleigh all displaying yellow roses and red roses.

The final design was arranged using a lighted church as an accessory.

The main flowers used were white gerbera, white roses and stargazer lilies.

In her vote of thanks, Marian Weston expressed the society’s gratitude for the use of Neuadd Goffa, to the members who had prepared and served the seasonal refreshments, and of course to that rare specimen - the Black Orchid!

She thanked John for his outstanding demonstration and for the hard work which was involved in staging such a show.

Several lucky people went home with floral arrangements which had been raffled at the end of the evening.

They commence 2018 with a demonstration by Pixie Harcourt on Wednesday, 3 January, at 2.30pm at Bethel Chapel Vestry, Baker Street.

A warm welcome is extended to all.
