St John’s games evening

AS a way of raising funds for Children in Need the congregation along with St David’s Church have organised a games evening to be held at St John’s on Friday, 18 November, starting at 5.30pm.

Late-night shopping

THIS year’s event is to be held on Thursday, 8 December, which will include a ‘Best Dressed Shop Window’ competition. Windows will be judged in the afternoon There will be a bottle of bubbly for the winner, and, of course, the accolade of winning.

Community fund

OASIS Day Nursery is bidding for funding from the Aviva Community Fund to enable them to build an outdoor play area. Local people need to go on line and vote at aviva.co.uk/community-fund. This is a competitive bid so the project that gets the most votes will win. Voting closes at mid day on the 18 November.

Wales Air Ambulance fund-raiser

A fund-raising evening for the Wales Air Ambulance raised a four-figure sum for the helicopter charity. Sands Leisure Complex, just north of Barmouth, held a charity night on 22 October featuring some big ticket prizes, some of which cost hundreds of pounds. Managing director of the leisure facility, Dominic Camm, said: “I presented the air ambulance with the £4,623.09 we raised at the Sands Leisure complex charity night. The night included live entertainment, star prize raffle and an auction. All of the prizes were donated by local businesses and customers of the Sands, some of the major prizes this year included 50-inch plasma TV and a gallon of Bell’s whisky. We’d like to thank everybody who took part in the evening, as well as all the volunteers and businesses who made the event possible.”
