Town council
AT the annual meeting the following were appointed to the town, resources, amenities, regulatory, staffing and events committees: Glyn Daniels, Eurwyn Jones, Rory Francis, Mark Thomas, Bedwyr Gwilym, Anwen Daniels, Will G Roberts, Ronwen D Roberts and Mel Goch ap Meirion (not on the resources committee).
Gwynedd Council’s education department has requested that the town council appoints a representative for the Pupil Admissions Appeal Panel and Exclusions Appeal Panel. This will be discussed at the monthly meeting.
The following councillors have been elected to represent the council on other committees and organisations: Community Centre Committee, Eurwyn Jones; Neuadd Ffestiniog, Mel Goch ap Meirion; Park Partnership, Bedwyr Gwilym; Bro Ffestiniog Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, Annwen Daniels; Trawsfynydd Stakeholders Committee, Glyn Daniels; Cwmni Bro, Eirian Barkess; Ynni Twrog, Glyn Daniels.
Cllr Daniels said Ynni Twrog is looking for grant funding for solar panels after already receiving a grant to secure the required certificates for social buildings.
Following a discussion with Rachel Roberts and Paul Sandham, the council discussed costs and whether to accept the community wifi contract.
It was recommended to sign the agreement as it will benefit local businesses.
The council also agreed to discuss it further in a year to see whether it is successful and to offer a fee of £1 for 24 hours with the first 90 minutes free, and also to request a box on the community centre.
In the meantime it was reported that the majority of the forms for businesses have been completed and it is hoped the scheme will move forward soon.

Blaenau Amateurs
THE following end-of-season awards have been handed out: players’ player, Iwan Jones; top scorer, Tom Hughes; manager’s player, Gethin Jones; young player, Sion Aron Roberts; most improved player, Joe Dukes; and clubman of the year, David Williams.
Angling
THE Cambrian Angling Association fly-fishermen will be competing for the annual Emrys Evans Memorial Cup between 8pm and midnight at Gamallt Lakes on Friday, 28 June.
Fun day
DUE to the poor weather, the 1970s fun day on Sunday had to take place at the RWF Club, instead of at Diffwys Square.
It was well attended and several performers were present, including the Elvis of north Wales, Wynne Roberts, as well as a number of .activities
The event was held in aid of specialised dementia day services and the fire service.
