Hafod Trust

VISITORS walking through the historic landscaped grounds of the Hafod Estate this coming bank holiday weekend, will invariably visit Mrs Johnes’s Garden, the Flower Garden, which has recently been fully restored to its former glory by the Hafod Trust in its partnership with Natural Resources Wales.

A newly-planted garden needs to be properly maintained and the Trust recently organised two very successful weeding and tidying days with a difference, one on 20 April and one last Wednesday, 16 May, with local people being invited to go along and help the Trust’s Gardening Team, taking with them their favourite weeding tools and a sandwich.

Both days were very successful and all the garden has now been weeded and tidied in what was very much a community effort with the Cwtch Cafe in Pontrhydygroes very kindly providing a delicious coffee and walnut cake for the lunch break.

A new leaflet giving information on the estate and its historic walks, is in the leaflet boxes at the Church Car Park and further information on the work of the Trust is available from David Newnham or Rachel Baker on 01974 282568, or email [email protected]
