Evening of Carols

The hall was full to celebrate the 36th Evening of Carols, organised by the ‘81 Committee at the Dyffryn and Talybont Village Hall, on 19 December.

An initial welcome was extended by Gretta Cartwright. An apology was received from the Rev Canon Beth Bailey who was unable to attend due to family circumstances.

Aled Morgan Jones was welcomed to lead the singing with Côr Meibion Ardudwy. Rev Father Tony Hodges was then introduced to lead in prayer. Father Tony who serves in Ardudwy, is originally from Merthyr Tydfil and has served in the South of France, where he was responsible for 17 churches.

After some wonderful singing, there was a break to enjoy refreshments. This was also a time to socialise and have a chat. Then there was more excellent singing, with Aled and the choir.

Father Tony thanked Aled, the choir and accompanist Idris Lewis, Ron Telfer (treasurer ‘81), Gretta Cartwright for making arrangements over the years, the ‘81 committee ladies for the refreshments, and the community council for paying for the use of the hall.

An enjoyable evening was brought to a close with a carol and a blessing.
