The first Meeting of the 50th anniversary year was held on Wednesday evening, 13 September at Y Ganolfan, Bryncrug when the chairperson, Gwenfair Pierce, welcomed a good turnout of members.

The guest speaker for the evening was Claire Davies, who also this year celebrates 50 years of the Gallery family business in Aberdyfi.

It was interesting to hear how the business had initially been set up by her late father, the artist Ted Morris, about the opening of The Gallery in Glandovey Terrace, before moving to its present location in New Street, Aberdyfi.

Both Claire and her husband, Glyn, are artists and it is their work that is primarily exhibited in the Gallery today, by way of both original water colours and prints and she had brought along with her examples of their work, emphasising how they had changed in style and standard over the years.

The vote of thanks was given by Anne Rowlands and the competition of “My most helpful gadget” was won by a speaking clock entered by Mary Davies.

The next Meeting will be held on Wednesday,11 October when Peter Saunders will be updating the members on his business activities.
