The Plas grounds were awash with young and not-so-young as all were able to enjoy the wonderful playground, a community picnic, treasurer hunt and various stalls.

It was then back to basics on Wednesday, 5 June, when Mach Maethlon volunteers met at the group’s picnic table, Plas grounds, and went on to help keep the Edible Mach Maethlon sites around the town looking fantastic and full of lovely vegetables, herbs and fruit.

The group meets on Wednesdays at 2pm outside the Plas at the edible picnic table. The session lasts two hours but there’s no commitment to stay till the end. All welcome from experienced gardeners to complete newbies. Children to, if accompanied by an adult.

8 days: To the Moon and Back

MOMA Machynlleth is proud to present an exclusive screening of a new BBC/PBS/Open University documentary made to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first humans to land on the Moon.

On 16 July, 1969, Apollo 11 blasted off from Cape Kennedy in Florida, carrying three men on their quarter of a million mile journey to the Moon.

‘8 Days’ tells the incredible story of that journey and the three astronauts – Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins – from blast off to splash down. Combining archive footage with brandnew reconstructions, ‘8 Days’ takes you inside the Apollo 11 story like never before, putting you in the capsule with the astronauts as they do the impossible and put a man on the Moon.

The writer of the documentary, Philip Ralph, a local Machynlleth resident, will introduce the film and will offer a Q&A after the screening.

Free Admission (Donations to support the work of MOMA Machynlleth will be gratefully received) on Saturday, 20 July at 7pm.
