THE latest community news from New Quay

Memorial hall

THE Friends of New Quay Hall Regeneration Project came together last summer to raise money towards financing the project.

Numerous activities have been held and thousands of pounds raised so far, but there is a very long way to go.

One activity which happens weekly takes place in the hall every Friday and is a successful coffee morning with various stands where a variety of gifts, foods and garden produce can be bought at reasonable or even bargain prices.

There is a friendly atmosphere where friends and acquaintances can meet and chat. It is well worth a regular visit and the funds raised all go towards the future of the hall.

Walkers

THE New Quay Walkers chose Cardiff as their base for the weekend away on 24 to 26 May.

Their base was the famous Angel Hotel with its long history of hospitality to Welsh rugby through the generations.

The group was well led by Morlais Davies, who had created two interesting walks.

On Saturday, he led on the Cardiff Bay Trail, which, with some absorbing diversions, extended to over nine miles with highlights in the Wetlands wildlife reservation, the White Water Rafting Centre and crossing the barrage.

Sunday’s walk followed a five-mile circular route in ‘The Green Heart of the City’. It started and finished outside Cardiff Castle and visited Bute Park, part of the Taff Trail, Llandaff Cathedral, Pontcanna Fields and Sophia Gardens.

The June walk is a six-mile circular walk in the Lampeter area meeting in the Rookery car park at 10.30am on Saturday, 22 June. Further details from Glyn on 01545 561285.
