Coed y Bont
COMING up at Coed y Bont on Sunday, 23 July it’s ‘On the Wing’! Meet at the car park at 9am where Liz Snell will open the moth traps to see what specimens were drawn in overnight. She has a knack of capturing some unusual and interesting fly-by-nights.
If that’s too early a start, you can meet her there at 10am for a look around to see what species of butterflies are fluttering hither and thither - seemingly in a haphazard flight, but not so.
There are some beautiful colours are to be seen.
Now if you’re really late rising and breakfasting, you can meet at 11am. You will have missed the moths and butterflies but you can wander round to the ponds and look for the hovering and/or darting damselflies and dragon flies.
You may need a sun-hat, sun-screen and/or insect repellent - you just never know in Bont. Also a camera and magnifier might be useful. Another popular event but don’t worry you don’t need a ticket, just turn up please.
Cywiriad
O DAN llun o Garnifal y Bont yn y Cambrian News yr wythnos ddiwethaf, ymddangosodd enw anghywir o dan llun y frenhines a’i gosgordd. Catrin Davies oedd y frenhines, ac nid ei chwaer Mari!
Strata Florida Celebrations
THE weekend of celebrations at Strata Florida Abbey were a huge success, with hundreds of people attending over the two days.
There were numerous activities happening all day, including talks, guided walks, displays and performances, and also services to celebrate a thousand years of worship at Strata Florida.
The Nanteos Cup was displayed at the abbey over the weekend, and was part of one of the services on the Sunday.
There were activities happening in the village also, in the form of a Twmpath Dawns on the Saturday evening in Pantyfedwen Hall, and a Gymanfa Ganu on the Sunday evening at Rhydfendigaid chapel.
The weekend of celebrations was in partnership with the Strata Florida Trust, Cadw, the National Library of Wales and the Council for British Archaeology, with Prof David Austin, Lampeter and his wife Gaenor Parry as co-ordinators of the project.
