Madam,

As a former member of Cantre‘r Gwaelod Diving Club, Aberystwyth, I have seen first hand the devastation that is caused to the ecology of the sea bed by dredging for scallops.

After scallop fishing takes place the sea bed resembles a newly ploughed field, which totally obliterates all other sea life in the area, affecting the whole food chain, plant and animal life. This takes years to regenerate.

In light of this I must raise my concern at the proposed scallop dredging of Cardigan Bay, which will adversely affect local fishing and tourism.

Yours etc,

John Kidby,Bryn Road, Aberystwyth.
