Ceredigion County Council has admitted putting double yellow lines on an Aberystwyth street instead of introducing a parking restriction between the hours of 9am and 6pm.

The double yellow lines appeared on North Road, Aberystwyth, outside Penmorfa Flats.

The council issued a report on 6 November last year, with the recommendation “that the parking prohibition be introduced as proposed”, with a diagram clearly showing that the area had been earmarked for a prohibition of waiting from 9am to 6pm.

When the Cambrian News contacted the council about the appearance of the double yellow lines, asking if there had been a mistake, the council said no, the proposal being consulted upon at that location was for a new section of double yellow lines by the access to Penmorfa Flats.

But later that day, the council came back to us to say a mistake had been made.

“Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention,” a council spokesperson said.

“Officers will be reviewing the information provided as part of the consultation process at this location.”
