A PARKING review in Aberystwyth will be carried out after the assessment of a “successful” experimental order banning campervans from overnight parking on the seafront, a council spokesperson has claimed.
The authority had previously said that a review would take place once the new multi-storey car park built as part of the Mill Street development was completed and could be assessed.
The council said there was also a need to consider the ban on campervans parking overnight on the seafront.
A spokesperson said: “Work is due to start shortly on the next round of changes to parking restrictions in Ceredigion, with the intention to implement these in the current financial year if possible.
“A report providing a strategic overview of current parking arrangements and future options in Aberystwyth is being commissioned, and changes to parking restrictions there will be considered once this has been received and fully considered.
“Changes to restrictions there may be implemented within the next financial year, subject to the outcome of statutory consultation.
“However, the current experimental restriction on campervans parking overnight on the seafront at Aberystwyth, which we are informed has been considered a significant success in the town, will need to be considered in advance of this.
“The next review of speed limits on county roads is currently scheduled for 2019.”
