A LLANYBYDDER man has escaped a driving ban under the totting up procedure after magistrates ruled it would have a negative effect on both his family and business.

Richard Barry Evans, of Delfryn, Llanllwni, was caught speeding at 39mph om the 30mph zone in a Ford Transit van on the A483 Tallard Villas road near Ffairfach, Llandeilo on 20 May this year, Llanelli magistrates heard on Monday, 6 December.

Evans, 41, was fined £100 and handed three penalty points on his licence.

Whil eth pointes were enough for a disqualification, magistrates said a road ban would have an “effect on his company and its six employees” which had also been affected by the pandemic, and adversely effect his wife and children.

Evans must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.
