A NEWCASTLE Emlyn man who sexually assaulted a girl has been jailed for nine years.
Andrew Bridger, 54, of Parc Meiros, Felindre, was convicted by a jury at Swansea Crown Court of sexual assault and sexual activity with a girl aged under 13.
Bridger was cleared of an allegation that he also sexually assaulted a second girl.
The jury heard how Bridger sexually touched the first girl and made her perform sex acts on him.
The offences came to light years after the abuse when the girl, by then a grown woman, complained to a therapist.
The judge, Mr Recorder Mills, told Bridger his life was about to change for the worse, but added that he should have thought about that at the time.
Bridger was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and told to register with the police as a sex offender, with both orders to run for life.
