A Porthmadog woman caught driving while more than two times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for 20 months.

Bethan Roberts, of 59 Annedd, New Street, appeared before Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on 30 July.

The court heard that the 62-year-old was stopped by police while driving on Chapel Street in Porthmadog on 26 May this year.

Laboratory testing showed that Roberts had 163 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The legal limit is 80 microgrammes.

Magistrates disqualified Roberts from driving for 20 months and handed her a fine of £101.

Roberts must also pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85 as well as a £295 surcharge to fund victim services.
