A New Quay woman has been handed a 12-week suspended jail term and been banned from driving after being pulled over police and found in possession of a pocket knife and under the influence of drugs.

Georgia Dulyn-Miles of Plas y Wern, Gilfachreda appeared before magistrates in Llanelli on 18 July.

She was charged with possessing a three-inch fixed blade pocket knife on 11 January this year after being pulled over by police while driving her blue Ford Fiesta on the A40 Abergwili.

Miles, 27, was also charged with possession of 1.95g of herbal cannabis found following the stop.

She was separately charged with drug-driving for exceeding the specified limit of cannabis and cocaine in her system.

Dulyn-Miles pleaded guilty to all charges.

Magistrates sentenced her to a 12-week jail term, suspended for 12 months for the knife possession offence.

She was handed a two-week jail term for the drug offences, which will run concurrently and are also suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates banned Dulyn-Miles from driving for 23 months.

A destruction order was made for the knife and drugs.

She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £115.
