TWO builders accused of conning a pensioner out of £40,000 by claiming work was necessary have denied the offence and will appear in crown court.

Peter Jason Gilmore, 42, of 26 Cambrian Street in Aberystwyth, and 23-year-old Mark Lea, of 32 Cestrian Street, Connah’s Quay, have both pleaded not guilty to fraud by false representation after speaking to the Penrhyncoch pensioner on 1 April 2014.

Magistrates ruled that the case was too serious for them to deal with and released both men on conditional bail until a hearing at Swansea Crown Court on 13 May.
