A FED-UP councillor has lambasted vandals who ripped up newly-laid turf at a children’s park in Pwllheli.
Last weekend, Cllr Dylan Bullard was aggrieved to find the turf at Wembley play park, Lon Abererch, had been pulled up and dumped at the foot of a slide.
The park has recently been refurbished with new play equipment and the county council has branded the act of vandalism as “extremely disappointing”.
On social media, one mother said her little girl was “heartbroken” when she realised she could not go on the new equipment and other residents voiced their concerns that youngsters who loitered in the park at night might have caused the damage.
Cllr Bullard dealt with the vandalism to the best of his ability on Monday, which happened to be his birthday, but was dismayed by what had happened.
“The police haven’t been informed as I didn’t think it merited it, although I am considering asking them to visit the park as youths regularly go there at night to drink,” he told the Cambrian News.
“I was informed by a friend who lives in Abererch Road that the turf, recently laid by the council in the new park, had been pulled up and thrown about and over the fence.
“Myself and Cllr Hefin Underwood, of Pwllheli South, went and tidied up as much as possible to make the park accessible to the local kids again,” he said.
