PUPILS at Ysgol Penybryn, Tywyn, have been collecting empty crisp packets for charity.

The Iron Man Survival Blankets charity use the packets to make blankets for the homeless.

“This is a great for the people as well as being environmentally friendly,” said teacher Elen Mason.

“One of the pupils saw this online and thought it was a good idea for us to do as a school as they realise how important it is to help others.

“The crisp packets are ironed together to make the blankets that will keep sleeping bags dry and warm.

“It takes 150 packs to make one blanket and, as a school, we collected over 1200!

“The children all wanted to take part, and it was something that could be done easily.”
