A Covid-19 case has been confirmed at Ysgol Gymraeg in Aberystwyth.

Ceredigion County Council confirmed this morning that a contact group at Ysgol Gymraeg has been asked to self-isolate for 10 days following the confirmation of a coronavirus case at the school.

A spokesperson for Ceredigion council said: “The contact group has been asked to self-isolate due to being close contacts of a confirmed Covid-19 case at the school.

“These pupils and staff must remain at home for 10 days to reduce the possible spread of the virus to family, friends and the wider community.

“Only one contact group is being asked to self-isolate.

“However, as a precautionary measure, Years 3 and 4 will be asked to stay at home.

“Distance learning will be provided for Years 3 and 4 from Monday, 14 December and to the rest of the pupils from Tuesday, 15 December."

Today is the last day that primary school pupils will receive face-to-face lessons before the Christmas break, with online lessons being provided for the remainder of the week.

• A contact group at Ysgol Bro Teifi, Llandysul have also been asked to self-isolate for 10 days following the confirmation of a further Covid-19 case at the school.

All confirmed contacts of the positive case must remain at home for 10 days to reduce the possible spread of the virus to family, friends and the wider community.
