Pupils at an Aberystwyth primary school are walking, running, scooting and cycling a combined 7,000 miles, to raise money to improve the school’s outdoor areas.

Youngsters at Plascrug School have been sponsored to climb hills and jog miles for the PTA’s #herplascrugchallenge. The target total distance miles travelled by pupils is the 7,000 miles it would take to visit their partner schools in Iceland, Spain and Germany – and back!

The money raised will be used towards developing the outdoor area for the children in nursery and reception classes.

Barclays Bank will double the amount raised.

And Alison Jones Schoolwear in Aberystwyth is also donating 10 per cent from sales of all #herplascrugchallenge sports T-shirts sold to the PTA.

Deputy headteacher Carol Macy said: “I am so proud to see our school community work together in the #herplascrugchallenge to get fit and raise funds for the outdoor area.

“Classes have been running in school and it’s wonderful to see so many families travel actively to and from school.
